MARIA WARITH-WADE | WRITER & DIRECTOR
Maria is a multi-hyphenate black filmmaker from Richmond, Virginia. Prior to joining USC’s Peter Stark Program, Maria was an integrated marketing strategist and event producer for Viacom Media Networks launching marketing campaigns across their music and entertainment brands. Recently, she worked on the 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards and the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards producing linear and digital content for their ad clients. While at Viacom, she worked on The Culture of Proximity, a documentary that explores the existing cultural landscape of pop culture. Maria launched Brookland Park Productions, to cultivate stories of the unheard through artistic and thought-provoking content across film and digital platforms. At BPP, she is producing a social impact documentary that tackles the legacy of redlining and how it prevails in the capital of the Confederacy, Richmond, Virginia. She holds a B.S. in Political Communications from Emerson College and a Masters in Global Strategic Management in Marketing & Communications from Blanquerna University.
REBECCA MALARET | PRODUCER
Rebecca Malaret is currently a Peter Stark Producing Candidate pursuing her MFA at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. As a Latinx filmmaker, Rebecca is a persuasive advocate for inclusivity and her work highlights her passion for bringing new perspectives to the forefront of contemporary media. Prior to commencing her graduate studies, Rebecca worked as an Executive Assistant to the two CEOS of WanderLuxxe, an entertainment brand focused on uplifting the creative voices of artists of color, where she was responsible for overseeing the coordination of industry events at festivals across the globe including Sundance Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, and Cannes Film Festival. She also worked as an executive assistant to the female CEO at Cold Iron Pictures (Swiss Army Man, Don’t Think Twice, Diary of a Teenage Girl) and produced several short films with fellow University of Virginia alums. Rebecca’s professional and personal endeavors demonstrate a commitment to supporting female artists and fighting for the rights of women in entertainment. Rebecca worked as a Web Production Assistant at CherryPicks, a digital brand committed to highlighting the female critical voice in film. In addition, Rebecca worked as a Programming Intern at Ava DuVernay’s production company, ARRAY (13th, Selma, When They See Us). She currently works in Film and Television Development at Reese Witherspoon’s digital media company, Hello Sunshine, and Viola Davis’ production company, JuVee Productions.
OLIVIA MARGARITA GASTALDO | DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY
Olivia Margarita Gastaldo (they/them) is a queer mestizx Cinematographer and Director working in commercial and narrative film. Olivia started their career in gaming and is currently working with 100 Thieves as a Senior Producer + Cinematographer. In their work, Olivia is committed to uplifting the voices of their community. They are committed to supporting the work of BIPOC, femme, queer/trans creators, and aim to uplift the Latin American voice in cinema. Olivia has created for brands such as LG, HyperX, AMD, and Rocket Mortgage.
KENDRA MITCHELL | ASSOCIATE PRODUCER
Kendra Mitchell is currently an MFA candidate in the Peter Stark Producing Program at USC. She has worked on scripted and daytime productions for studios such as NBCUniversal, Warner Bros, and ABC. Prior to entering the entertainment industry, she worked at the national arts advocacy nonprofit Americans for the Arts where she cultivated partnerships and advanced the organization’s strategic objectives. She graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in English in 2012 and spent a term abroad at the University of Oxford. As a military kid, Kendra is still trying to figure out where to tell people she is from but generally goes with Arlington, VA with a side of California. She enjoys traveling, trying the local wines of the places she visits, and having Marvel movie nights with her family.
EDRIANNY RODRIGUEZ | SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGIST
Edrianny Rodriguez is currently a MFA candidate in the Peter Stark Producing Program at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. An Afro-Latina who aims to tell stories of underrepresented voices in entertainment, her main goal is to make Hollywood more diverse in front of the camera as well as behind the scenes. She’s worked at premium entertainment companies like MGM Studios and Fox Entertainment in programming, production, and development. Before starting graduate school and switching lanes in entertainment, Edrianny worked in TV/Film marketing at companies like 20th Century Fox and Nickelodeon. Edrianny is also a writer and a hip-hop dancer, making her a well rounded multi-hyphenate.
DR. ANITA M CAL | LINE PRODUCER
Anita M. Cal is a versatile award-winning storyteller who’s had the opportunity to write, produce, and line produce with a diverse range of talent in the industry, from Taraji P. Henson to the legendary Rutger Hauer (Batman, Blade Runner) and Emmy winning re-recording sound mixer Michael Archacki. As a writer, she’s penned comedy for TBS’s Tyler Perry's "House of Payne" and "Meet The Browns," as well as Colours TV’s “The Chin Chinns.” Anita is passionate about telling character-driven BiPOC stories centered around diverse themes of culture, crime, family, or social issues. Anita landed her first development deal with Showtime, Inc. for a feature family drama, “Kinfolks” while still in graduate school. Her screenplay, Fathers of God, a gripping thriller that exposes the grim secrets of Catholic priests, won a Garry Marshall Best Screenplay Award, Academy Nicholl’s Fellowship quarter-finalist honors, and Chesterfield Writer’s Film Project semi-finalist recognition. Currently, Anita is penning a feature MMA boxing feature for Sweet Unknown Studios. She is the Creator, Writer, and EP of “Beyond the Badge,” a drama pilot optioned by Lorenz Tate’s Tatemen Entertainment that earned finalist honors at the Seriesfest and DTLA film festivals. A former Los Angeles Times cop and education reporter, Anita is known to her college students as “Dr. C.” She is an adjunct professor teaching M.F.A. production, film theory, and Director/Producer courses at NYU Los Angeles, Syracuse University Los Angeles, UCLA Ext., and NYFA Film Academy. Anita earned her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University. She incorporates leadership principles into her film school lectures and has spoken on her leadership research in Belgium, Paris, and Frieburg.
AYANNA ZIEGLER | ASSISTANT DIRECTOR
Ayanna Ziegler is an MFA candidate at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts in Film & Television Production, where she focuses on writing and directing as a George Lucas Scholar. Prior to USC, Ayanna made short films with her Bay Area film community and worked on multiple web series. She also worked as a Creative Producer for the San Francisco organization, BAYCAT Studio, where she developed and executed cultural content for The Golden State Warriors. Ayanna’s work centers on social justice through an entertainment lens intending to provoke culturally conscious conversations. She earned her B.A. in Media & Cultural Studies from the University of California, Riverside, and is proud to be from Oakland, CA. Ayanna is also a poet and spoken word artist with an undying appreciation for hip-hop.
NYBIE’S WARDROBE | CHARVELLE HOLDER-DOBARD
A graduate of Emerson College with a degree in Multimedia Journalism, this multi hyphenate was determined to make Hollywood home. Now, 8 years into calling Los Angeles home, Charvelle's natural storytelling abilities have helped her along in a successful modeling career which transformed into more roles within the fashion world; styling, buying, and social media management. With focus' also on acting, writing, and hosting Charvelle's message across all of her passionate career endeavors is to help underrepresented communities shine.
BOBBI BROOME | WARDROBE
Bobbi Broome is a 23-year-old MFA graduate student at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts studying Film and Television Production. Bobbi aspires to inspire and create meaningful content that will define a generation and give a voice to those who have been historically pushed to the background. In addition to film, Bobbi is also passionate about women and children and wants to use her talents in media and content creation to uplift them. Bobbi has been privileged to work and study in many industries other than film, including Psychology, Pan-African Studies, and Social Media Management molding her into a well-rounded asset.
